Prospective Freshmen

The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering offers the undergraduate degrees of Bachelor of Science, Engineering (B.S.E.) in Aerospace Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.

Aerospace Engineering majors study aerodynamics, propulsion, aerospace structures, flight dynamics and control, aerospace materials, aircraft performance, stability and control, flight mechanics, astronautics, and aircraft and spacecraft design.

Astronautic topics such as orbital mechanics, attitude dynamics, spacecraft control, and rocket propulsion are also covered in required courses.

Design is integrated throughout our curricula and covers the range of component specifications to large-scale system integration. Instructional Lab classes provide hands-on experience in experimental tools and techniques. A variety of technical electives are offered to build additional technical specialization or breadth. Exceptional students have additional opportunities for independent study and research.

Undergraduate degrees offer a comprehensive basic education in aerospace or mechanical engineering emphasizing physical sciences and mathematics in the lower-division courses followed by engineering sciences and engineering design courses. The curriculum emphasizes:
