Advanced techniques in numerical simulations of urban boundary layer dynamics are reviewed, including urbanization of the surface energy, surface boundary layer, and Navier Stokes PBL equations.  Applications include studies of urban induced thunderstorms, impacts on ozone transport patterns, and linkages with emergency-response street-canyon dispersion models.
